With offices from Kaitaia to Invercargill, Relationships Aotearoa delivers a comprehensive range of high quality, affordable counselling and education programmes to around 28,000 New Zealanders each year.Yes, we are contracted to provide many of our services, however we are reliant on the support of the philanthropic community to help meet some of the increased demand for counselling services we see. Through donations and special purpose grants, Relationships Aotearoa is able to continue the work we do.
Charitable funding is sought for many different programmes, but in essence additional funding allows us to provide professional and affordable services to communities in need.
Behind each donation are stories of people being helped and lives being changed. Large or small, the support we receive enables us to help New Zealanders build healthy, respectful, and non violent relationships.
Here are some details of recent donations and what they have enabled us to do:
Wellington City Council
Through the Betty Campbell Accommodation Assistance Fund, Relationships Aotearoa has been awarded funding for 3 years to support rental costs for our Wellington office. Relationships Aotearoa Wellington operates within very modest budgets to support around 1,500 clients each year. The assistance we receive from this fund managed by the Wellington City Council allows us to focus our limited resources on meeting the counselling needs of Wellington clients
Bay Trust
Relationships Aotearoa Tauranga is one of our largest offices, and we expect to deliver just under 8,000 counselling sessions from this office this year. We see many clients who are motivated to change abusive and violent behaviour, as well as victims of family violence who self refer to our service. Support from the Bay Trust has allowed us to support many more clients dealing with issues of family violence in a very challenging financial climate.
Canterbury Community Trust
The Canterbury Community Trust is a long time supporter of Relationships Services. Funds received this year have supported communities in Nelson, Marlborough and Christchurch, in particular improving access to services for clients unable to contribute towards the cost of their counselling.
Central Energy Trust
Providing counselling in a suitably comfortable environment is important to us. A grant from the Central Energy Trust, through their energy-related community grants programme has allowed us to purchase and install heat pumps in our Manawatu office, for which we are extremely grateful.
