Working for Relationships Aotearoa

All staff are expected to become familiar with our Code of Ethics and to work within those principles.

For counsellors we usually expect:

  • You have completed your training as a counsellor. The NZAC website lists some of the counselling training courses available in New Zealand. 
  • You are a member of an appropriate professional association.
Our staff usually join one of the following:

  • You work within our code of ethics and practice framework as well as the code of ethics of your professional association.  
  • You demonstrate your work as part of your application process. This often involves role playing part of a counselling session during the interview. It may include presenting audio or videotapes of your work with clients. 
  • You have a commitment to biculturalism and work in a way that reflects the priciples of the Treaty of Waitangi.

 

For Administrative Staff we usually expect:

  • You will have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel Outlook and Access databases.
  • You will be highly accurate at data entry
  • You will be able to manage well organised office systems and be able to move easily between a variety of tasks.
  • You will demonstrate the warmth and interpersonal skills to meet and greet a wide range of people both on the phone and in person. You will be able to stay calm and professional when clients are stressed, upset or frustrated.
  • You will have a commitment to biculturalism and work in a way that reflects the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi

 

For Area Managers we usually expect:

 

  • Experience managing staff and sound knowledge of HR requirements and practices 
  • Experience managing a client focused service  
  • Strong budget development, monitoring and management skills 
  • Contract management experience 
  • Aptitude for business development 
  • Strong skills in Excel and Word, sound skills in Internet and email use, ability to use Access, Powerpoint 
  • Understanding of the NGO sector is an advantage
  • You will have a commitment to biculturalism and work in a way that reflects the priciples of the Treaty of Waitangi.   
  • You will enjoy being an Area Manager with Relationships Aotearoa if you can work well in a team as well as having the self-motivation to make things happen.
